Summer is always such a great time in the Vail Valley and Cordillera area and I’m looking forward to the many fun events and activities that come with it. Certain COVID-19 guidelines are still in place but I’m excited to see how the rest of the summer progresses and that lots of events are coming back this year. The real estate market is still very hot, although inventory on homes continues to be low. The summer months usually mean an influx of visitors to the area and even more activity in terms of transactions so I’m interested to see how that develops. But for now, here’s some fun news and great events happening in the Vail Valley and Cordillera area this June!

Take the Bus This Summer!

June Vail Valley/Cordillera Community Insider

Vail is lucky enough to have an extensive and free bus system which makes getting around really simple. If you were planning on hiking trails this summer then taking the bus is definitely the way to go. There are new parking restrictions going into effect June 2nd at many popular trailheads due to overcrowding and safety concerns. Thankfully the trailheads are all easily reached by bus so you can simply park in Vail town and hop on! You can read more about which trails to hike, as well as parking and the bus route information here. Keep in mind that the buses have moved from the spring schedule to the summer schedule now, and you can check the entire schedule here. Passengers are still required to wear facemasks on the bus so be prepared for that whenever you do decide to ride the bus.

Summer Solstice Trail Run

If this summer is all about getting fit then go for a trail run on the longest day of the year! Vail Rec has organized what they call the most enjoyable race of the Vail Trail Running Series. This run is on June 19th and you can choose to run either a 5K or 10K. The 10K starts at 9am and the 5K starts at 9.15am. The race begins and ends in Creekside Park in Beaver Creek so you can enjoy beautiful aspen groves and alpine views as you run. Preregistering is recommended and cheaper but you can also decide to register day-of. For more information, to register or to see the trail map, click here

Vail Farmers Market is Back

June Vail Valley/Cordillera Community Insider

The Vail Farmers Market is coming back this summer! The first live farmers market is on June 20th, right on Father’s Day, so you can take the whole family and cook up a fantastic meal with your fresh local ingredients. The market is on East Meadow Drive and will be every Sunday from 9.30am until 3.30pm. They have around 40 vendors this year so there will be plenty of amazing local things to try and buy. They are still following COVID-19 guidelines and asking visitors to wear masks and sanitize their hands. You can find out more about the vendors and their full schedule here. And if you’re not comfortable heading out there or want to shop on other days, you can buy from their virtual farmers market as well!
