While summer is in full swing in the Vail Valley Area, unfortunately, some of our local events are still being canceled and many precautions are still in place due to COVID 19. I know some of our favorite 4th of July events had to be canceled this year, but I know it’s been done for the health and safety of our community. While this summer may look and feel a little different, we will all get through this together. I really appreciate all the hard work of our local restaurants and businesses that are thinking outside the box for us to still be able to enjoy these summer months! My hopes are this July Community Insider Vail Valley gives you some great ideas to attend this month.
West Vail Hotel Project
One big announcement we’ve recently had is that the West Vail hotel project got the final approval from the Vail Town Council! This project will be expanding Vail’s only hotel. The owner of Highline, a Doubletree by Hilton will plan to build a new wing for the hotel. This will add 12 dormitory-style housing units, and 79 additional hotel rooms within the building. The plans also include building a new workforce housing building with 15 apartments and 34 total bedrooms. This space will also create a new meeting space for our community as well. Councilmember Kim Langmaid was proud to announce that the development team added solar panels to the project. This will add a lot of positive growth to our community! Vail Farmers Market And Art Show
During summer Vail’s Farmers Market is something everyone enjoys going to on the weekends. Who wouldn’t love getting fresh farm produce and being able to shop with local vendors? This year they are still offering this for you but just a little different. They are wanting you to sign up for tickets and they are available in 10-minute increments. Also, remember to practice social distancing guidelines and you must wear a mask to shop with the vendors. They are also offering a virtual market to help with the current crisis affecting us all. To get your ticket to attend the market or to shop online with the vendors click here.
Vail’s Art On The Rockies
This is now the 10th year for the Art on the Rockies Festival. This festival has been voted the best festival by the Vail Daily readers poll. It is known for the quality of art and the first-class treatment of both its artist and its guests. With the Vail’s Rocky Mountains in the background and beautiful art all around you, this is a must-try event. This event attracts 125 highly esteemed national artists to our local community. It is a great outdoor event that you can still attend this summer! Come and meet nationally renowned artists and get a chance to view a variety of arts and fine craft located on the grounds of Colorado Mountain College in Edwards. This event starts Friday, July 10th at 10 am with free admission. Other features this event will have is food, free children’s art area, and a silent auction benefiting the Vail Valley Arts League.
