Selling your home can be stressful and exciting all in one! Excited about what the future holds, but anxious about all the steps that go with selling your home. How do you know if you are ready to sell?
Why Are You Selling Your Home?
With this being such a tough decision to sell your home the first question you should ask yourself is if you are truly ready to sell. Questions to think about what major changes have happened to me and will this house continue to work for us? Is it needing lots of repairs? Is this house a second home or vacation home that is getting used less? Do you need additional square footage? Make sure you figure out what is motivating you and you will better understand if you are ready to sell your home now, or if you’d prefer to wait a little longer.
What Kind Of Seller Are You?
How motivated are you to sell? If you aren’t quite ready to sell your home that can affect the listing price due to you wanting to go higher to test the market. Therefore this could affect how long your home is listed on the market for. You could be waiting a while for that perfect client looking for a home just like yours! But if you are a very motivated seller that wants to get rid of their home right now then you might price your home a little lower, hoping to get offers quicker! Make sure to discuss your motivations and desired timeline with your real estate agent as this will affect a number of things
Are You Sure You Want to Sell Your Home?
You have to be completely in on your decision to put your house up for sale. Are you ready or are you just going to go through the motions of selling your home?
Some questions you can ask yourself if you think you are ready to sell:
- Is the location of your home just not working for you anymore?
- Are kids and family not visiting?
- Do you want additional square footage?
- Life has taken you on another path?
If you can think majority votes are yes then you might be ready to sell!
Are You Emotionally Ready To Sell Your Home?
Are you ready to move out of this house that holds so many memories? You have to keep in mind your buyer isn’t going to have the same connection to your home as you do. This could make things difficult when it comes to negotiating on price. Ready to go through the process of putting your house on the market? This could mean doing little projects just to make spaces come back to life, or as small as adding new light fixtures.
