Welcome to the November edition of the Vail Valley/Cordillera Community Insider. It’s hard to believe that the holidays are right around the corner and winter is almost in full swing.
Vail Mountain Resort Opening Day
Winter is really the time of year that the Vail Valley comes to life. Offering well over 5,000 acres of downhill and cross-country trails, Vail is widely considered one of the best ski mountains in the world. And rightfully so. Vail Mountain Resort opens for the season on November 12th. I know many in the area are excited to get back on the slopes!
You can purchase your season pass or individual tickets through their website. They plan to stay open through Memorial Day at the end of May (weather permitting) so there’s plenty of time to enjoy a weekend on the mountain.
Glenwood Hot Springs
After a day spent on the mountain perhaps you’re looking for a place to relax and warm-up? Only about an hour from Vail, you will find the Glenwood Hot Springs. The original red sandstone bathhouse and lodge was built in l890 and it’s been a staple in Colorado ever since. The Hot Spring’s mineral-rich water is notably the largest pool of its type in the world.
This unique and historic destination isn’t totally rustic though, it features a modern, comfortable Lodge, poolside dining, a quality fitness facility, upscale boutique shopping, and everything you need to enjoy an unforgettable getaway this winter.
Magic of Lights Vail
Are you looking for a family-friendly holiday lighting event in the Vail Valley? The Betty Ford Alpine Gardens offers a walkthrough lighting experience that features a multitude of colorful light displays made from (approximately) half a million light bulbs.
The Gardens are beautiful all on their own but when they are transformed into a winter wonderland the event is something your family may quickly be making a tradition! The walking loop is about a half-mile in length so it’s an adventure that even the smallest family members can partake in.
If you’d like to purchase tickets you can do so by following this link. The event runs from November 19th through January 2nd, 2022, and opens daily at 5pm.
