It’s winter. That means it’s time for some beautiful winter walks or hikes! Here’s a list of some of my favorite winter walks here in Vail.

Booth Creek Trail

Some of you may know this one, as it’s one of the most popular trails in Vail Valley. Start off on Booth Creek Road and end at Booth Lake. Many enjoy this hike because of the Booth Falls. The higher up you are, you may get some views of the Gore Range, as well. Remember, being winter, the views will change. Snow may cover the Booth Lake, the colors may not be as bright, but you will get the winter beauty. The round trip distance is approximately 8.2 miles for this hike.

Near Gore Creek Campground at a trailhead you will find the Gore Creek Trail. This trail leads you to Gore Lake around 5.5 miles in. With gorgeous views of East Vail to the West, you should definitely check this one out. This is a moderate to difficult climb!

Beaver Lake Trail

Beaver Lake Trail is located in Avon, Colorado. As you are walking through the aspens and thimbleberry, it’s quiet. You have incredible views during your walk and will reach Beaver Lake. While some end their hike here, the trail actually continues on 4 miles to a couple lakes at the foot of Grouse Mountain.

Sylvan Lake State Park

Located about 10 miles south of Eagle, is the Sylvan Lake State Park. This 1548 acre Park is surrounded by the White River National Forest. You may come across snowshoers and cross-country skiers in the winter months, as well as snowmobilers and ice fishermen near the 42 acre lake. This park also offers over 7 miles of hiking trails to endure the scenery.
